The J. Lawrence Apple Papers contain papers, lectures, and policy planning documents, 1967-1986, by Apple, a professor of plant pathology and genetics at North Carolina State University. Jay Lawrence Apple (1926- ), a native of Guilford County, North Carolina, and graduate of the North Carolina State College of Agriculture and Engineering (later North Carolina State University), was a professor of plant pathology and genetics at North Carolina State University from 1955 to 1991. He was founder and secretary general of the International Association for the Plant Protection Sciences, which was established in 1999 as an umbrella organization over the International Plant Protection Congresses, quadrennial conferences for the promotion of integrated pest management.
